During the last twenty-five years, the term Dedham Pottery has been used almost exclusively to refer to that company’s crackle-glaze, cobalt blue-painted tableware. This “craquelware,” as its creator, Hugh Robertson, called it, has never been more sought after than present. Prices have steadily increased as the number of collectors has grown. In order to truly appreciate the product, one must understand its origins.
